Alyce Chaucer III: Murder Will Out
In the third book in my series of history mysteries inspired by Geoffrey Chaucer’s granddaughter Alyce and her home in Ewelme, Oxfordshire, Princess Alyce and her new secretary Tamsin Ormesby set out on a perilous winter journey to Tintagel in Cornwall following a new clue to the mystery of the murder of Alyce’s husband William, Duke of Suffolk. With them travel ebullient bookseller Joan Moulton, loyal steward Ben Bilton, resolute veteran Joseph Pek, flirtatious Matilda Lovejoy and Joan’s witchy herbalist Godith.
They are joined by Sir Thomas Malory, a fugitive from justice eager to try out his Arthurian tales on them as they journey. By the time they reach Cornwall, they have been assailed by outlaws and arsonists, as old and new enemies conspire to prevent their reaching Tintagel and discovering the identity of those who brought about Suffolk’s death.
